Holly Hannigan Hypnotherapy

Solution focused hypnotherapy in Gloucestershire

Why use hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy uses practical, modern and well researched strategies to help people implement significant, positive changes in their lives.
Using Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, we look at what you want to achieve rather than on the problem(s) that have brought you to the situation you are in, focusing on the present and the future and not on the past. Hypnosis/Trance is a very relaxing and enjoyable experience allowing the brain to focus on the positives.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can be used to help people with:

Mental and emotional health

Anxiety and Depression, Confidence and Self-Esteem problems, Anger, Panic Attacks, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Phobias

Physical health

Migraines, Addictions, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Weight Control, Pain Management, Sleep Problems, Smoking Cessation
I offer a free Initial Consultation where I will find out more about you and what you want to achieve through SFH and explain how the brain works and why we experience Anxiety, Depression and such problems. You will also get a free CD/ mp3 download to listen to at night before bed and in subsequent sessions we will work together using Positive Language, Positive Thought and Positive Activity, along with scaling and hypnosis/trance, to get you to where you want to be.
I will get you to consider your preferred future, for instance, what would be better if the problem had improved? What would have changed?  This will give you an opportunity to visualise and experience your life as you want it to be and come to your own solutions.

  • There is no exact definition of Hypnosis but it is generally accepted that contrary to what many people believe, hypnosis is not always a trance state or a sleep state even though a person in hypnosis may appear to be sleeping.

‘Hypnosis is really natural state of mind and is an important part of everyday life. Whenever our mind wanders, daydreams or is focused on something, such as reading a book, driving a familiar route, watching a film we are in a state of hypnosis.’ (NCH)

  • People often have a misconception of Hypnosis, picturing the entertainment Hypnotist shows on TV where people are made to dance like a chicken or seem to drop into an unconscious, sleep state at the click of a finger. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind; people are often surprised that they hear every word and could get up and walk out of the room at any moment. Unless you enter a deeper state, you may not seem any different, just very relaxed.

‘It’s similar to drifting off to sleep at night, that stage when you are not quite awake and not quite asleep, you may feel a sense of weightlessness or you may feel heaviness as all your muscles relax. Everyone experiences it differently, and your therapist will be able to reassure you and help you relax and enjoy the experience.’ (NCH)

Most people are surprised at just how relaxing it is.

  • In situations where you are in a hypnotic trance, such as reading a book, you still have the power to emerge from that state if you want to. Whatever or whomever hypnotizes you; you always have the power to resist.

‘When you realize that you are the one in control, when you decide how deeply into hypnosis you wish to go, then you become aware of what hypnosis is. A hypnotherapist is a guide and helps you on a journey, but the change can only be made by you.’ (NCH)

Many people feel empowered when they realize that they are in control and will be making the changes themselves.

Do you or does someone you know suffer from anxiety?

After hearing today's heart breaking news about Chester Bennington committing suicide, after struggling with mental health issues and consequently alcohol and drug abuse, I felt it was important to pop a quick post on to simply remind everyone that you are not alone. The world can become overwhelming when your primitive mind is in control and Anxiety, Depression and Anger consume you, but please reach out to someone. A friend, a family member, a stranger or a professional. That first step in asking for help is such an incredibly strong thing to do and will set you on the path to healing and moving forward. #mentalhealthawareness #RIPchester #firststeptohealing #askforhelp #youarenotalone ...
